This selfcare ritual kit is intended for use to celebrate and set intentions for the Māori New Year - Matariki. It follows tikanga Māori (Māori customs) to acknowledge ngā tangata whenua - the peoples of this land (Aotearoa) on which you stand and the rongoā rākau (native plants) which have been harvested from this whenua.

This self care ritual draws on this whakaaro (thinking) as well as the holistic health model developed by Mason Durie - te whare tapa whā (the house of four sides) and places your wellness at the core of everything you do.

Note: This is different to our New Year ritual kit as it marks specifically the Māori New Year which is based on the marama (moon), maramataka (moon phases) and ngā whetu (the stars) - in other words, a lunar calendar.

This can only be shipped to those in Aotearoa New Zealand as the kit contains dried botanicals unable to be shipped internationally.

Instructions will be included which will break down the ritual step by step.

    Its main steps consist of:

    1. Cleansing - by choosing a sacred space, and clearing the space and invoking protection.
    2. Releasing - by lighting the candle and connecting to the moment.
    3. Remembering - by reflecting on the past and letting go of things holding you back.
    4. Celebrating - by purifying your hauora (whole health) and protecting your tinana.
    5. Manifesting - by looking to the future and setting commitments for the year to come.
    6. Returning self - by closing the ritual and removing tapu (sacredness).
