What if time wasn't a straight line?
What if the past was actually in front of us, and the future was behind?
That's the Māori view of time - and honestly? Its taken me fricken years to get my head around it... and I'm still trying TBH 🥴
In this episode, I unpack the two ways of seeing time that often clash:
Clock-time: tick-tock, straight line, deadlines, productivity, smashing out targets.
Event-time: a circle, a spiral, fluid, relational. Where you build the relationship first, and the journey matters as much as the destination.
Neither is wrong. They just prioritise different things.
I share how it shows up in the everyday, including my mahi at MindKai, from harvesting rongoā to working with clients and building intergenerational wellbeing.
I also share the hard lessons I learned the hard way - why time needs to bend to relationships, why you need backup in leadership, and why there's no perfect roadmap.
If you've ever wondered why theres a disconnect with how you view time - this kōrero will reframe how you see it.
Kia whakatōmuri te haere whakamua
I walk backwards into the future with my eyes fixed on my past
Arohanui,
Kim
