For Māori the concept of wairua (spirit) is best understood when the word is broken in two. Wai meaning water and rua meaning two - in other words meaning ‘two streams’. These two streams represent the duality of masculine and feminine energy - both of which are present in us all. 

MindKai’s kiritau facial oil gives support for the wairua, and more specifically channels  the feminine flow of energy for the mauri (lifeforce) of its user.

It is a unique blend of rongoā Māori and natural oils focused on supporting the kanohi (face) and its overall health as well as to protect, restore, rejuvenate and brighten the skin.

KINAKI | INGREDIENTS

Jojoba oil | simmondsia chinensis  - similar to skin produced sebum allowing deeper penetration. Perfect to nourish and hydrate, boost the skins glow and help restore & rejuvenate as it is naturally high in Vitamins A, D and E and nutrients. A gentle oil that balances oily skin, soothes sensitive skin and hydrates dry and aging skin.

Sweet almond oil | prunus amygdalus dulcis - packed with vitamins and nutrients that are said to be essential for skin nourishment.

Argan oil | argania spinosa  - believed to protect the skin from uv rays, treat acne, hydrate, soothe and rejuvenate skin.

Rosehip oil | rosa canin - said to brighten, boost collagen formation, reduce inflammation and protect against sun damage.

Cacay oil | caryodendron orinocense - rich in vitamins a, e, and retinol, it is said to absorb rapidly into skin to improve elasticity & skin tone, help reduce acne, smooth skin texture and hydrate.

Black cumin seed oil | nigella sativa - it is believed to have a powerful ability to restore the natural health & vitality of skin, providing deep, lasting moisture for skin to keep it plump and firm.

Green tea extract | camelia sinensis - an antioxidant powerhouse packed with polyphenols that are thought to fight oxidation and make the skin glow. Said to be beneficial for aging, oily, and acne-prone skin and as a mild exfoliator. 

Frankincense olibanum essential oil | boswellia carterii - said to have a calming & opening effect on the mind to easily reach mindfulness or support meditation practices.

Lavender essential oil | lavandula angustifolia - known as nature's ‘first aid’ oil as it is thought to heal, soothe and have antiseptic and analgesic properties. it is also said to ease muscles, calm nervous tension and act as a gentle sedative to aid sleep, and ease agitation and irritability. Perfect for stress and tension headaches.

Rose geranium essential oil | pelargonium graveolens - restores balance and a sense of stability during times of stress and swings of mood and energy. its also calming and uplifting.

Thought to be wonderful for the skin by balancing, healing & regenerating. It is said to have a stabilising effect on hormonal and stress-related conditions & to be useful for women in supporting a balanced transition during menopause. It is believed to be an excellent nervous system tonic, helping to restore balance and a sense of stability during times of stress or when experiencing swings in mood and energy. It is also thought to be calming and uplifting to ease nervous tension and irritability to instill a sense of steadiness and strength.

RONGOĀ | PLANTS

Kanuka | kunzea ericoides | white tea tree - a rongoā rākau (native plant) known to be antimicrobial and healing, as well as calming and relaxing, to the mind. From a wairua (spiritual) perspective, Māori believe it has the ability for regeneration and restored inner vitality & strength, and help with spontaneity and self-expression. 

Kawakawa | macropiper excelsum - a rongoā rākau (native plant) that is said to soothe skin and help reduce inflammation due to its antimicrobial and analgesic properties. From a wairua (spiritual) perspective, Māori believe it gives strength to move forward fearlessly & have faith. 

Manuka | leptospermum scoparium| kahikatoa | tea tree - a rongoā rākau (native plant) said to soothe body and soul through its purification, anti-microbial, and anti-inflammatory properties. From a wairua (spiritual) perspective, Māori believe it supports self-regeneration, metamorphosis, being in touch with your own power, and depth of inner experience. 

Calendula | calendula officinalis - known to soothe & hydrate skin and promote collagen production to help the skin to glow.

Chamomile | matricaria recutita - known to contain powerful anti-oxidants including polyphenols and phytochemicals which are said to help aging skin, protects from free radical damage by accelerating cell and tissue renewal, and give the skin a glow. 

Lavender | lavandula angustifolia - known to be healing, antiseptic and calming. 

WHAKAMAHI | HOW TO USE

Place oil into palm of hand and apply to a dry face.

Hā ki roto, hā ki waho (breath deeply, slowly and with intent) - whilst using your finger tips to gently massage the oil into your skin.

Depending on your need, this may be for several seconds to a minute to allow the oil to penetrate.

Once done, use a damp, warm face cloth to gently wipe oil away, or rinse with warm water directly (if you want some oil to stay on your skin).

TOHUTOHU TIAKI | CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Store in a cool area away from sunlight. 

MindKai is 100% natural, and as such has no preservatives. That is why we recommend using your product within six months of receiving.

TUPATO | CAUTION

MindKai is for external use only. Desist use if skin irritation occurs. Keep away from eyes.

If applicable - we also recommend to avoid using during the first trimester of pregnancy due to the essential oils within the blend.

Avoid pressing too hard or scrubbing skin on application, as this can lead to irritation and breakout.
